Aidan's Birthday

Happy 2nd Birthdy Aidan!
On Saturday, we went to a birthday party for our friends, Brad and Lori's, son Aidan. It was a beautiful day and lots of fun.
Aidan with some yummy ice cream.

"See Aidan, you have to blow like this!"

Caden fell a few times while playing, but he didn't like to touch the grass...so...

he would sit and fuss and reach for me to pick him up. Notice I left him fussing just so I could get a picture :)

Playing at the water table with the birthday boy...they were really into it. Caden loved splashing around with this table and ended up soaking himself (I think this is Aidan's 4th outfit of the day).

Playing with the big boys.

There's that finger (notice the lips too) pointing to something.

Finger and Lips

What's with all this pointing?

Well, there were "do"s in the field next to their place. Apparently every animal is a "do", and Caden will even say "woof woof" incase you aren't sure what he's referring to. He called a squirrel a "do" the other day.

After the water table, and looking at the cows, Caden went off to play with the older boys and the bikes.
"Hey Mom, look at me!"

He actually kept his feet up for a little while while Jason pushed him.

Here are 2 of the older boys, Dominick and Gavin. It was very hard to get them in the same picture and looking at me at the same time. I'm not sure what Dominick is saying, maybe, "Pop goes the weasel!"

Gavin and Dominick

Gavin got tired of the bike apparently.
Then there was sweet little Annalise who just enjoyed watching the boys run around while being held by Mommy, Marisa.

A nice closeup of Annalise. She was all smiles!
BTW: Yesterday we enjoyed our grass for the first time. We have some bare spots, so the landscaper came and spread some seeds. It's so funny looking out and seeing green when I was seeing brown for so long.

Toys vs. Books

...and the books won. Lately Caden has been crawling into his toybox without taking the toys out first. This time he totally ignored the toys and went straight for his books.

I usually line up toys along the edge of his changing table which is right next to his crib each night so he has something to play with in the morning. I recently added books along with the toys, and now that's all that he grabs. The other night I had to pull a book out from underneath him. He must've been reading in the dark. It's so cute when I get him up from a nap or in the morning and he's sitting there reading a book.

(He's sitting on the little divider between parts in his toy box.)

A Whale of a Time

While Jason, Jim, and Brooks put together the swing set, Caden and I played with his toys on the deck. We tried out his new whale teeter-totter from guess who...Aunt Justine, Uncle Randy, and kids. He wasn't too sure when he was on one end and I on the other, but he was OK in the middle.

"The diapers go in the box, Mom!"

Yesterday, I brought up Caden's box of diapers and tried to unload the box. Caden obviously thought the diapers should stay in the box, as you can see (and you can hear that this is not an easy task). It looks like he scratches his hand and bops his head in the middle and comes to me to console him. Then, he remembers he has a job to do and finishes his task.

Swinging

Caden finally got his chance to swing on Sunday (thanks Aunt Justine and Uncle Randy for the swing + other toys). It was freezing by that time, so it was a quick ride, plus he had some mixed feelings about the swing. He had a death grip on me when I first put him in. He seemed fine swinging towards us, but not away. He probably thought we'd get him out when he came towards us. Little did he know...
"Hey, this is OK!"
"Umm...maybe not."

"Yeah, not too sure about this."

"Well, OK, maybe."

"Get me outta here!"

"I really mean it, I'm upset here!"

"OK, changed my mind."

"Nope, I'm done."

"Now, slides I like!"

Somehow I missed this picture when I posted yesterday...I think it's the best one.

"New" Swing Set

As previously mention...we were given this swing set from our very generous neighbors. Their son wasn't too happy about it though. They are putting in a pool...so I don't think their son minds too much any more.

Teamwork

Trying to figure out how to get the spirl slide in. They ran into rock...go figure!

The finished product. Nice work guys!
Notice the green grass...who knew watching grass grow could be so exciting?

Big Boy Spoon

I know I've posted a video before with Caden feeding himself, but I think he's a little better at it now.
