Bowling For Kids' Sake

Today was Bowl For Kids' Sake to support Big Brothers/Big Sisters. It was a good time had by all! Thanks everyone for coming in to bowl today. Caden, Daddy, and Nana (it was a Beach Party theme)
Carole and Brooks sang the Michigan Fight Song for a prize.
Caden and his Daddy. We just passed him around the whole time, which was fine with him.
"The Flinstones"
Jason (Fred), Dave (Dino), Brooks (Barney)
Mary Lou (Betty), me (Wilma)
Caden (Bam-Bam), Carole (Pebbles)

The final scores...I had to take this picture because I have a little thing going with my friend Brad (bowled in Bloomsburg) that whoever loses today has to buy the other dessert. I broke 100...that's good for me.
The Flinstones are good bowlers!

The whole event just knocked him out.

1st Hair Cut

Before:

"Look at what I'm wearing, Aunt Missy, on this big day!"

After:

He was so good during his 1st haircut. There are no pictures "during"...I was cutting and Jason was distracting. He just played with his comb and brush set the whole time. I had no idea what I was doing, but I made it look like I did!

Homemade Birthday Gifts

In addition to the cake, Caden received some other homemade gifts too.

A tiger mosaic - made by Caden's Daddy.
Here's a closeup - Jason glued tiny pieces of paper cut out from Chritmas cards, envelopes, the 3-D Super Bowl glasses, etc. to make this tiger picture.

I knitted this ASL I Love You blanket for him. It measures roughly 20''x28''.
(I got the pattern off a blog: http://frogiezplace.blogspot.com/2008/05/savannahs-blankie.html )Caden's Nana made him this sneaker bank.

Last, but not least, Caden's cousins, Matt, Chris, Cori, and Katie, made him these birthday cards/pictures.

Freebie

I love Spring cleaning...or at least when others do it. On our way home from grocery shopping on Monday, Caden and I discovered a little plastic Playskool picnic table infront of a house in our development. It looked pretty dirty but otherwise not in too bad of shape. So, I told Jason to drive by it too and let me know what he thinks. We both agreed it wasn't too bad, so I went down knocked on the door, found out it was free, and loaded it up! No pictures yet (hasn't been cleaned)...but I can't wait for the first nice day to hose it off!

Caden's New Old Toy Box

Caden just got a new old toy box this weekend. The two toy boxes in the top photo belonged to my sister, Erin, and me. The bigger one was made by my father and painted by my mother. My mom had kept them in the attic for me one day, and I'm glad she did. The date on the bottom of the bigger one was 12-81. I think we'll have to add a date to the bottom too with its new look. I did the hard part...spray painting it orange, and Jason painted the animals on it. It's a little big for Caden, but he still seems to enjoy it.

He's trying to pick up his ark...hence the strained face.

A Boy and His Wagon

Caden's Daddy thought Caden might just fit in his new wagon...and he did. He actually sat still for most of the ride around the living room.

Sockless

Hummmm...something's wrong here. You look different than when I put you down for a nap...I know...you had socks on! This is apparently Caden's new thing to do. As you can see...he's taken his socks off on different days. In the first two pictures, I found 1 sock at the head and 1 at the foot of the crib.

Feed Me!

We tried this on Tuesday (I know...I have my holidays mixed up, but I didn't have a St. Patrick's Day bib...so I went with Halloween) just to see what he would do. It was a messy but fun experience.

New Socks

Thanks Grandma for the new socks! It feels funny to not have the heel of the sock in the middle of my foot! They are just the fit! I liked the smiley face you put in with them too.

It's A Girl!

Welcome to the world Adelyn Caroline!
You picked a good date to arrive.

This beautiful little girl was born Sunday morning at 10:48 am to a good friend of mine from high school, Jolene, and her husband, Jason. Congratulations! I bet Adelyn's 2 older brothers, Ryan and Mason, were excited to meet her.

She is 8 lbs. 1 oz. and 20.8 in long.

Plumping-Up Program

Caden had his 12 month well-baby Dr. appt. yesterday. He has a very good memory, especially when it comes to the Dr.'s office. He was fine in the waiting room but started getting anxious when we went into the room. Then when I put him on the bed to try to get him undressed, he just started crying. He was fine as long as I was holding him. I had to peel him off of me for the examination. Of course, the shots weren't fun either! Here are the stats:
Weight: 18 lbs. 14 oz.
Height: 29.75 in.
As you can see...he hasn't grown a whole lot in the past 3 months. I'm really trying not to worry...but worrying runs in the family. He has an appt. on April 10th for a weight check again. So, for the next 3 weeks, he's on a plumping-up program! He's such an active little guy, which I'm sure is part of it. Well...wish us luck!
Other Caden info:
- he's working on 12 teeth
- he makes this really cute wrinkly face and turns his hands upward like he asking "What's going on?"
- he loves to make this "cheesy" smile where he shows all his teeth and his cheeks make his eyes disappear
- he points to everything, especially new things like his ceiling fan in his room (thanks Ali!)
- he grunts when he tries to pick heavier things up like his toy bin or a basket (reminds me of my friend Jen's little boy)
- he likes to push things while on his knees
- he literally turns up his nose, turns his head, and makes a face when he doesn't want to eat something
- he's been skipping his afternoon naps, but he doesn't cry...just plays and babbles

Book Club

Caden's 12 addition to the GBMC are the following 2 fun books:
One to Ten...and back again
This is "An Amazing Pull-The-Ribbon Book" where these ribbons pop out each time you turn to page.

Gallop by Rufus Butler Seder

This book is "A Scanimation Picture Book" where the picutres on each page move when you turn the page.

He also got books from Aunt Erin, Nana and Papa, Mommy and Daddy.

Last Year on This Day...

We left the hospital around 1 pm to go home. Our stay at the hospital wasn't bad at all...we had the best nurses, but I was really looking forward to getting home. It was a cool, sunny day; similar to today. Here are a few pictures from right before we left that the hospital took. Notice he's wearing green for St. Patrick's Day...purely accidental :)

We're a family!
