Sunshine is here and Pretty in Pink!!

Abigail Jean made her debut today, April 29, 2010, at 5:39 weighing in at 7 pounds, 9.5 ounces and 19 inches long. Oh...and she has plenty of long, red hair....looks very much like her big brother Caden! There will be pictures posted as soon as the family gets home from the hospital.....
Caden and Abigail's grandmother......

I guess the poll was right at 72% guessing girl and only 27% guessing boy :)

New Plan

Ok, just got a call from the hospital, and we're going in today! We're praying everything goes smoothly. Yea!!!!

"The Plan"

Ok...so here's the plan. If I don't go in before, I have to be at L&D by 7:00 a.m. Friday morning. Keep your fingers crossed that we go in before...I don't really like the thought of being induced. I guess it's just a little more waiting for us :) Of course the Dr. on call on Friday is one I haven't met!
Caden is demonstrating in this picture of how he looked when his Daddy got him up from a nap the other day. He's been doing this a lot lately with either a shirt or his pj's. I hope this doesn't last too long...he's stretching out all his clothes!

BTW - I have another appt. today for Sunshine at 4:30. I'll let you know if we're planning on giving this baby an extra little push!

Caden's Song

This was from 2 days ago. He just started singing along with the radio. He's been singing a lot lately, just nonsense words for the most part. It does sound like he's saying, "hurry up" in the middle though...maybe it's a song for Sunshine.

Horseshoes

We decided to try out Caden's new horseshoe set that he got from the Easter Bunny at Mammy's house the other day. He had a good time throwing them as you can tell from the video. He thinks you have to walk up to the other peg and throw from there towards the trees.

No News

I know in most cases no news is good news, but in my case it just means I have nothing new to report as far as Sunshine goes. Just to let you know...I've given directions to my mom to post the baby info on the blog, so she's going to try her best! Now we are just patiently waiting...

Caden's Bin

Two days ago, this is what I found when I went in to get Caden up for the day. The interesting thing with this bin is that it is on the bottom shelf of the changing table next to the crib. Somehow he got hold of it and was able to lift it all the way up and over the side of the crib. It had some onesies and other things in it too...not really light. He's an interesting one!

Sunshine 40 Weeks

..."on board" and still hanging out.
I have an appointment today, more info to come.

I had such a nice nurse at this appointment. She told me I had a cute profile. So nice to hear at 40 weeks :)
OK...this time the doctor said to make an appointment for next week just to be on the safe side (already done), but he's thinking they'll see me at the hospital before my next appointment. Boy, I hope so! We're so excited. Caden hasn't been napping the past couple days, and I wonder if the baby has anything to do with it. Maybe we've been talking about it too much?!

"Nesting?"

At least someone has enough energy to "nest" because it's certainly not me!

Sunshine 39 Weeks + 1 Day (yesterday)

According to my doctor appointment yesterday, things are starting to move along. He said to make an appointment for next week to be on the safe side (but I already had one for next week and the week after). I don't think anything is going to happen before my appointment next Wednesday (on my actual due date). We'd like to have another Saturday birth so that my mom can stay longer :)

"Huh?"

It was cute about the first 30 times Caden looked at me and said, "huh?" but now it's driving me nuts! I have to repeat everything I say at least twice, and then I just say never mind :) It's hard to tell if he really didn't hear me, really doesn't understand, or is just doing it for fun. He looks so innocent when saying it though.

"Caramelized" Kielbasa

Here's another easy, internet found recipe that quickly became a favorite among my family (especially my Uncle Jeff). Can you tell we love our kielbasa?

2 lbs. kielbasa, sliced 1/4 in. rounds
1 lg. onion, yellow or sweet, sliced thinly
1 cup apple cider vinegar (any kind works)
1 cup brown sugar, packed

In large covered skillet, mix vinegar and sugar. Heat on medium until sugar is melted. Add onions and kielbasa. Cook 15 minutes covered, stirring once or twice to coat all kielbasa. Cook uncovered 5-10 minutes more. Keep an eye on it because it doesn't take long to "over cook" and become too sticky. Serve on platter or bowl with toothpicks. Serve over egg noodles or rice for main course. Serves 6-8. (Can easily be cut in half.)

"Probem"

Lately Caden has been telling me either, "something's wrong" or "probem" with some of his toys. He got some Handy Manny toys from Aunt Peggy for his birthday, so that's what he's been using to fix things. It seems like that center screw on the bottom of his Sit and Spin just keeps causing "probems" :)

Manny is holding "Rusty"...and he's trying to get him off.

Sunshine 38 Weeks + 1 Day

I just got back from my doctor appointment, and we're doing well. The baby's head has dropped, so we're getting ready, though there weren't any other changes. I must say I'm looking forward to the 50 degree weather we are to be getting especially since I don't own a pair of maternity shorts!

An Onion

Not sure what you are looking at? This is the size of a bite from a 2-year-old. For some reason, he's been grabbing different foods and just taking a bite out of them lately. He grabbed a grapefruit the other day and took a chunk out of the peel. His reaction to this onion bite was to spit it out right away and come running to me, fussing, with his arms open needing a hug. All I could smell was onion when he got to me. I didn't realize at first that he took a bite until I saw this one laying on the floor. Maybe he's done biting things now???

Easter Day

OK, I think these are it for Easter. The very generous Easter Bunny stopped at Nana and Papa's on Thursday (which they brought to Caden), stopped at Mammy's on Sunday, GG and Pappy's on Sunday, and then our house on Sunday too!

Looking for the Easter basket at Mammy's.

Found it!
The Easter Bunny also gave Caden a big bunny pillow with his name on it and a kid's horseshoe set for outside.

Jason, Me, Erin, Caden, and Mom.
The final Easter egg hunt. By this time, he really wasn't interested anymore...
so he played instead.
Lexi found an egg!
The Easter Basket at Pappy and GG's with a book and a toy Caterpillar.
Uncle Jeff and Caden
Enjoying the sun and breeze in Pappy and GG's breezeway.
This was my attempt at getting a picture of a very active 2-year-old with his GG.
Searching for his Easter basket at home...don't know why he thought it was outside!
There it is!

He got some eggs with Play-Doh in them. What a familiar smell when I opened them up! Here's his first feel of Play-Doh. He makes the best faces!

Yet Another Easter Egg Hunt

"Downtown" New Columbia had an Easter Egg Hunt Saturday morning which was nice. Caden enjoyed looking at all the people more so than going after eggs. He seemed to finally get the hang of it at the end though.

Waiting patiently to go.
See how he's looking at people and not what he's doing? :)
Taking off on a run!
Our cousin, Terry, who also took his time getting eggs.

Gotta love this smile.
After his turn, he passed out all his candy, but then wanted it back.
Uncle Nelson and Terry having fun on the swings.

A quick shot with Mommy.

We were able to meet our cousin, Bryce, for the first time who turned a week old that day...so sweet! Terry is his big brother.

Hanging out with Daddy.
Heading home and looking a little sad for some reason.

Coloring Easter Eggs at Mammy's

We went to my mom's this past weekend for Easter. We had the hospital bag and infant car seat in Jason's car...just to be on the safe side :). On Saturday, we colored Easter eggs with Caden for the first time. He had a great time. He would tell us if they should go back in or not after checking on the color. All it took was one little splash for him to realize how messy it could get, so that made him even more careful. Erin's lovely Weis smock came in handy for this craft.
setting things up

He wasn't too crazy with the idea of getting the dye on his fingers, but he got over it.

putting stickers on a finished egg
This is the egg he made with his name on it.

SNOW!?

I'm a little behind on posts...so I'll try catching up now. It's so hard to believe sitting here today with 80 degree weather that last Tuesday we had snow, sleet, freezing rain falling from the sky. Then, the next day it was gone and by Thursday it was in the 70's. I kept saying, "Look at the snow, crazy!" so of course Caden kept looking out the window saying, "Crazy!"

(a little later in the day...and we still got a little more after that)

Fifteen Animals!

I believe I've mentioned before that we are fans of Sandra Boynton's books. Anyhow, Caden's GG gave him Fifteen Animals for his birthday. We've read it just a few times, but not enough I thought for him to memorize the last name. I don't want to give away the story, but at the end there's a turtle named Simon James Alexander Ragsdale the Third, and he can say the whole name without help. Lately he's been adding "Amen!" to the end of it, so today while in church he started saying the name and then "Amen!" I guess all the prayers in church influenced him? He's so fun!

P.S. Happy Easter!

Good News/Sunshine 37 Weeks

I had my ultrasound last night and an appointment today, and all is well. The technician measured me at 35 weeks and 6 days, which is only a week early. The baby weighs about 6 lbs, 2 oz at this point. The doctor today said anything off by 3 weeks is a concern, so he's not concerned at all. It was great seeing Sunshine again. I was able to see the head, spine, stomach, kidneys, heart, and bladder. The best part was that we could see the baby has hair! Too bad we couldn't tell color :) We stayed away from the legs for obvious reasons. Only 3 more weeks to go!
