Caden Cracks Himself Up

I like to show Caden the video of him laughing. Every time I do, he starts laughing at himself. Maybe I'll try to get that on video sometime...it's really cute.

A Button on a Bib

OK...I'll admit it...I'm addicted to taking pictures of my son. Here are a few from yesterday. Who puts a button on a bib anyhow?

Peek-a-boo!

These are two very short clips of Caden playing peek-a-boo. It's hard to get on video...never really know when he's going to start playing. When he starts, we of course join in.

Giving In

Today, Caden didn't have any books to distract him, but he was still in his crib for about 50 min. before he finally gave in and decided to nap. Again, I believe he was sitting up and just fell over...this is not a typical sleeping position for him.

Peek-a-boo...I see you!

Caden loves a good game of peek-a-boo! He'll even play around things, like our upstairs banister.

It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

The temperatures were finally above "freeze your face as soon as the air hits you", so we decided to go on a little outing. Our first stop was the post office to mail a few packages. It was a busy place to be! Then we finally made it to the library...it had been about 7 weeks since we were there last. Caden's picks are labeled along the side. He didn't want to let go of Baby Angels. He even flipped it open when we got in the car, but I didn't want him holding it for fear of him eating it. We hope you're enjoying the "warm" weather!

Daddy's Craking Me Up!

Caden's Daddy is very good at getting him to laugh. I always hear them laughing, and I have to run in and see what they are doing. It is actually pretty easy to make Caden laugh; we are blessed with such a happy baby.

A Day in History

Caden went down for a nap a little after 11 when President Bush was in office and woke up around 12:45 with a new president, President Obama, in office. I was able to actually watch the inauguration. Jason was at work. Where were you at noon today?

Here's an interesting video clip of the Presidents from George Washington to Barack Obama:

Caden "Walking"

Well...that was easy! Sorry it's on its side, I now know how I have to hold the camera. There's a lot of talking in the background too...I'll be more quiet next time :) I love the noise he makes when walking; he must be excited!

Book Club

Caden's 10th additions to the GBMC (previously mentioned HERE) are these 2 cute books:

It's hard to see, but it's a "lift-the-flap" book titled Where is Baby's Belly Button? by Karen Katz.
I've been wanting to teach Caden some simple signs (I found a neat website: http://www.signingbaby.com/main/), but have yet to do it. I think this book might help get me started. It is titled Baby Signs with pictures by Joy Allen.

Thanks Grandma! I can't wait to turn the pages and lift the flaps for Mommy! - Love Caden

Other Caden info: He started walking a few steps with his walker toy this afternoon. Somehow his Papa got him moving with it. One of these days I'll figure out how to put video on the blog... Actually...my mom just reminded me that he did take a few steps a few days after Christmas with his walker toy. He was able to walk almost the length of the room yesterday.

More Snow

This was the view outside our window yesterday morning. I was holding Caden and said, "Look, snow!" He got excited, but here it was because he was able to reach the locks on the windows...it had nothing to do with the snow.

10 Months Old

10 Things I Love About You
1. I love how you sometimes hold my hand when I'm carrying you in my arms.
2. I love how for some reason you smell like pineapple in the morning.
3. I love how you wake up talking/singing to yourself in the morning and give me a big smile when I come it to get you.
4. I love how you will crawl across your toys to get to your books (they are in the blue bin with the tan border):

5. I love how you entertain yourself and talk while playing.
6. I love how you will crawl to your Daddy or me in the middle of playing just to say hello and give us a hug.
7. I love how you flip your toys over or find new ways to play with things (like throwing blocks into your bouncer):

8. I love how you turn the pages when we're reading a book...and if I'm not reading quick enough, you'll close the book.
9. I love that it seems like you are associating "Mama" and "Dada" with us.
10. I love the happiness and joy you have brought into our lives...it's so easy to make you smile.
Other Caden developments:

- he has 7 teeth now (4 top, 3 bottom)

- he's really good at going from the crawling to sitting position and vice versa (which makes changing him a little more difficult)

- he loves splashing in the tub

- he does funny things when I'm feeding him, like pulling his bib up over his face between bites, making a "yummy" sound, clasping his hands together, or ripping his bib off and holding up like he's so proud of himself (this is not always funny in Mommy's eyes)

- he loves to feed himself Cheerios and other small things, yet dislikes Stage 3 foods

- he's really good at grasping things like fuzz off the floor and attempting (I usually intervene) to put them in his mouth

- he loves a simple game of peek-a-boo

- his favorite theme song is Pink Panther...it's fun to "dance" to

- he mimics some things like clapping and sometimes waving

- a new favorite cheap toy are long strips of cardboard...he just has a blast with them

- he now knows how to make his arms limp and wiggle around when he doesn't want to do something...the fun has just begun!

New Discovery

Caden got this book from his GG and G Pap for Christmas. He loves books with just one picture and word per page. GG thought it was funny when he unwrapped this book and started flipping through it right away. He was flipping through it today and discovered for the first time that the sheepdogs have fur on them. This entertained him for a decent amount of time:

Reading upside down again...he's good!

SNOW!

We took Caden out today for his first taste of snow (literally - hence the face). It snowed most of the day yesterday. He got this outfit for Christmas from his Nana and Papa. We bought him snow boots, but apparently his feet are too thick, and they don't fit. It was quite an adventure getting him ready - took over 20 min. for just 15 min. in the snow. It was worth it though. He liked it when I was throwing snow at his Daddy's legs, while he was being held by Daddy. I enjoyed it too...stress reliever!

Are you napping?

Here's what my baby was doing rather than taking a nap today at around 11:30. It's a little hard to tell, but he's flipping through these mini books we have and is actually NOT chewing on them like usual.

This is what he was doing about half an hour later when I checked on him. You'll notice he's still clutching one of the books (actually smashing his nose with it), and if you look closely, you can see that his one leg is still tucked under him. I think he might have fallen asleep sitting up and just fell over. (I did fix his leg for him.) I just wonder where that second book is!

Where are my hands?

"Ha, look at what I can do!" This is one of Caden's new games. He'll put his hands down through the leg holes and sometimes pull up on his pants. He did this at my mom's house and was getting fussy, like he couldn't pull them out. Then mom put her camera right in front of him and pop...out came the hands!

Date

Jason and I went out on a date yesterday to the movies. It was the 2nd time in 3 weeks! I think the best part about being out (besides alone time with my hubby) was seeing Caden's face when we picked him up from his Nana and Papa's. He let out a little squeal and tackled anything in his way to get to me; this time it was Papa. I don't like to leave him, but coming back is worth it!

Jason's Latest Project

Jason just finished this project over Christmas break. He's creative!

Fun at Grandma's

Here are some more pictures of the fun we had at Grandma's and GG's before Christmas:
Caden in a Box
The box once said "Caden's Toy Box", but once he realized he could peel the letters off, there was no stopping him.
New toy - bookmarks
"I can just crawl right in!"
These toys are from when Erin and I were kids...pretty old!
Globe or snowman...tough decision!
Jason just LOVES Lexi...actually it's good that he's sleeping.
Aunt Erin did a good job feeding Caden.
Caden was fed by Aunt Erin, Grandma, GG, and our cousin Kathy. He'll eat for anyone!

Jungle Puzzle

This is a picture of the jungle puzzle my sister made and glued together for Caden for Christmas. It's perfect for his room. Thanks Aunt Erin!

New Year's Hat

It's hard to tell how cute this hat is with the other pictures I took so here are a few more. Thanks Splane for knitting it!

"Oops, wrong way...I wanted to take it off!"
