Lunar Eclipse

On June 29, Jason an I took on the adventure of painting Caden's room. We did fairly well with only two minor mishaps. I stepped off the stool right into the tray of paint (with socks on), and Jason tripped and caught himself by slapping a wet wall with his hand. We found that we are a pretty good painting team though...I like painting, and he doesn't mind trimming. The color is called Luncar Eclipse, incase you didn't get that from the title. It was gray on the sample, but it's blue on the wall, funny how that works!

Decorating Ideas

If you're looking for some decorating ideas, my friend Renee is doing a whole month of decorating ideas/tips for the month of July on her blog (Tackling Today's Tasks). She emailed a bunch of people for ideas, but of course I missed the deadline. I thought I'd still share an idea we had that I've been wanting to post about for while now.

First off, I found this frame at a yard sale for $.50. Then we found a scrapbook paper (very cheap and there's a ton of different designs) that we liked and then got the matting for it. The total cost was less than $5.
This idea was off of a decorating show on HGTV. We found some cheap left over matieral at Wal-Mart and just stapled it over 2 blank canvases on sale from Michael's. Total cost was less than $10.

4th of July

My mom and sister came to babysit Caden so that J and I could go to the wedding on Friday and stayed until Sunday. They had a blast with him all weekend, laughing at everything he did. They especially enjoyed it when every time he sat down on the deck to play with bubbles, he moaned and sat on his chair and "read" (ba ba ba) to everyone. They had fun giving him a bath too where they learned he likes to try to pour water over himself on both shoulders.
To celebrate the 4th, we went to Nay Aug Park to see the treehouse and play on the playground a little. I was running out of batteries, so I didn't get many pictures, well...at least not many compared to what I normally take!
Everyone enjoying the beautiful weather; Caden is enjoying his snack. Now let's try looking at me this time. That's better. Thanks, Erin, for smiling.

Snack time!

Caden found a little branch with leaves on it and had a blast shaking it and hitting things with it which is why it's a blur on the picture.

Marching off to say hello to the poor woman who was trying to read a book but kept getting interrupted by little boys and dogs.

There was a lot going on at the playground. I'm not sure what this look and the look at the top of the blog are saying, but he sure is interested in what others are doing and apparently doesn't like it? As you can see, I tried and tried to get a picture of him looking at me in the swing, but no luck.

Then that evening Caden stayed up until about 9:15 after watching just a few minutes of fireworks. He wanted to play with the stones (something he does EVERY day) rather than sit and watch something that happens once a year. J's parent's came over and we all watched from our front porch - can't beat that!

A Holiday Wedding...Almost

This past weekend was a busy one with a wedding on the 3rd and then 4th of July fun. Jason, Mary Lou, and I traveled down to Lancaster on Friday to attend Kristy and Michael's wedding. Kristy is one of my dearest friends (and roommate) from college.
It was at a beautiful location.

A beautiful, large wedding party.
Kimberly (Kristy's younger sister), Kristy, Michael, and Kari (another college roommate and twin sister to the bride) plus other people I don't know :).

Kristy, Michael, and Kari in the background.

I tried to get a shot of her beutiful gown...this was as close as I could get.

Then of course the college friends got a shot together. It was so great seeing everyone again. We missed you, Ali!

Rocking Chair

I know it's been awhile since I've blogged...pictures of this past weekend coming soon...

As previously mentioned, Caden enjoys his rocking chair so much so that lately Daddy and I are not allowed to sit in it. He will come over to us and literally push or pull us off the rocking chair so that he can sit down. He makes an awful face and fusses along with with the push/pull. It's amazing how he can get his point across without words!

Tiny Visitors

We have been working on planting ground cover on the slope in front of our house. It's been a tedious job, but I think we're almost done. Please overlook all the rocks. Anyhow, it's always nice to have visitors, and the other day we found 2 of these little guys after Jason moved a large rock. I think they are in better shape than my plant right now.

A New Sign

Caden has created a new sign. I don't know what the real sign is for bubbles, but he puts his pointer finger up to his lips and blows whenever he hears us say bubbles, sees bubbles, or is telling me he wants to play with bubbles. I guess the kid likes bubbles!
