Nutcrackers

We decorated for Christmas last weekend, and Caden thought it would be fun to play with my nutcrackers...let's just say they now sit way up high on my book shelf :)

A Surprise Visit

We had a surprise visit from my Dad this past weekend. He was traveling through with a load to go to Maine, but was able to stay the night with us. It was the first time he met Abigail.
He was scared to death of Pappy D's truck. He was all excited to walk out to the truck but as soon as Pappy D opened the door, Caden started crying. He wouldn't even let me go in the truck. I have to admit...it is a little intimidating when you're up that close. As soon as I was done taking this picture, he ran over to me. Maybe that's why he says, "I don't want to go on 81" whenever we get on 81 :)

S'more Bars

This is a sweet, yummy recipe I found in Family Fun magazine. I made it when Kristen came to visit and we both agree it's worth making again!

1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla
3/4 cup crushed graham crackers
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
3 (1.55 oz) chocolate bars
1 (7 oz) jar fluff

Grease an 8-inch square baking pan. Heat oven to 350 degrees. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Add crushed crackers, flour, salt, and baking powder, and beat until well mixed. Spoon half the dough into pan and spread evenly with fingers. Break chocolate into pieces and arrange over dough. Spread layer of fluff over chocolate. Flatten remaining dough into pancakes and lay over fluff. Bake until golden brown, about 30 minutes. Let cool before serving. Makes 16 bars.

Thanksgiving '10

We usually go with Jason's side of the family for Thanksgiving, but this year we were fortunate enough to see both.
Caden enjoys "playing" the piano with GG.

Abby "had a ball" with GG and Aunt Erin. She figured out that every time she dropped it, Aunt Erin would pick it up. Then she would laugh every time Aunt Erin reached over to pick it up. This little game went on for awhile.
Abby now enjoys rolling off whatever mat is laid down for her. She realized that the corner was kinda fun to chew on. Look at that split!

Abby at 7 Months

Abigail turned 7 months on Monday!
Happy 7 Months sweet girl!
This pose is what she looks like in the middle of rolling over. Sometimes she just stops and lays like this for a few seconds...I guess because it's so comfortable?

Some things about Abby:
- Her left hand enjoys playing with my hair (or ripping out my earring) while I'm holding her.
- She enjoys playing with her brother's hair too.
- I love how she curls into me before nap or bedtime while I sing Hush Little Baby.
- She enjoys most solid foods...even if I trick her and mix carrots with something else (though she still shudders with bananas).
- She loves drinking water out of her sippy cup.
- She continues to just roll all over the place.
- She just figured out that she can bounce in the ExerSaucer and loves it even more.
- She doesn't like to have her clothes changed...she squawks at me, gets all stiff and sometimes holds her breath - I think it interrupts her playing time.
- She has 4 teeth, though I'm pretty sure 2 more bottom and 1 top are close to coming in.
- She's starting to help me turn the pages as I read a book.
