Quillos

My very talented Aunt April made these beautiful quillos for the kids.  I have a few crafty/talented aunts when I think about it :)

This is the pretty pink one she made for Abigail.

"Is this for me????"

When you unfold it, one side is quilted, and the other side is flannel.

This is the one for Caden.

This is the quilted side...beautiful!
Thanks so much Aunt April!

Happy 70th Anniversary, Grandma and Pappy!

Happy 70th Anniversary!
May 21st is my grandparent's anniversary.  We celebrated on the 19th with a gathering of family and friends at none other than the old schoolhouse in Newky :)

The Happy Couple

I'm not sure when this picture was taken...but I think someone forgot to say, "smile".  You can see a hint of red hair on Grandma.  Funny how it skipped a generation with me but not with my kids.
(side note: They didn't have a wedding picture taken.  They just went and got married :)  Grandma wore a green suit and Pappy I'm guessing wore a suit.  Pappy went to work that night and Grandma went back home to her mom.)
Abigail got really tired, especially after she skinned her knee.
(side note - she's wearing the same dress that our niece, Cori, wore at our wedding when she was 20 mo. old)

 Mom and our cousin, Kathy

Caden had a great time with our cousin, Kenzie.  She played and played with him, which made it really nice for us.

 Cutting the Cake
They didn't have a wedding cake either...it only took 70 years to get one.  They did feed it to each other and were very nice about it.

Mother's Day

The day before Mother's Day Abigail and I made a day trip to New Columbia.  My mom's church always had a Mother/Daughter Banquet for the past I don't know how many years.  Then this year they decided to cancel it.  I had already planned on making the trip with Abigail, so we decided to still go.  The five of us had a nice dinner at Country Cupboard that afternoon.

I think I was chasing after Abigail when this picture was taken, but I thought it was still a good one.

Happy 40th Anniversary!

Happy 40th Anniversary, Jim and Carole!
We celebrated Jason's parents' anniversary on May 11th (actual date is June 3) by gathering together and going out for dinner, playing the The Newlywed Game (40 years later), and of course eating cake!

Carole and Jim

Caden took it upon himself to feed Abby.  She was thrilled!

The whole gang of 18 (almost everyone at least).

 Playing the Newlywed Game

I think Jim ended up "winning", but it was tough trying to keep score.  They did answer a lot of questions similarly, which was fun.

 CAKE!

Jason's sister, Melissa, had this card made, and then she put these same pictures in a frame.  They don't look much different, do they?  Congrats to you both!

Sneaky Caden

This picture continues to make me laugh every time I look at it. We were trying to get a picture of the kids with my mom and Erin, but Caden was being a little difficult. So we used the old reverse psychology and said we didn't want him in the picture. Well, when I would say, "Ok, everyone smile" he'd pop up with the biggest grin on his face, like he was fooling us :) I think sometimes Abigail doesn't know what to think.

Caden's First Hockey Game

Last Friday evening, Caden went to his first Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins hockey game with Daddy, Nana, and Papa. He was soooo excited!
showing off his skeleton gloves

a little excited
It looks like he can't take his eyes off the ice.

This little vehicle Tux drove was one of the first things he told me about the game.
Of course he loved the zamboni! Jason said he kept asking when it was going to come out.
When I asked him the next morning what it was like, he said, "It was like being in the Arctic!" :)

Christmas Day

We had another wonderful Christmas with our families. Thank you everyone for everything!
This is what Caden and Abigail found waiting for them from Santa.
Abby really enjoys her little baby and carrier. It didn't take long for Funny Bunny to find his way into the carrier too.
Her new baby had to join us for Christmas breakfast.
After breakfast, Nana, Papa, and Aunt Missy came over.

Then it was off to Uncle Jeff and Aunt Bonnie's for a yummy feast.
(Abigail was screaming)
They enjoyed playing with one of their cats. I think his name is Sneezer.
Caden actually asked to have his picture taken next to this fun, tin soldier.

Then it was back to Mammy's for more gifts.
Abigail got another baby from GG and Pappy along with a bottle set.
Caden's trying out his train whistle from GG and Pappy.
These are called Color Wonder by Crayola. They only color or paint on special paper...really nice stuff!
GG had a good time with Caden's crazy ball.

Finally, we had a little visit with Aunt Justine and Uncle Randy and kids before we went home. Snack time is always a good time. We discovered Abigail really likes peppers.
