Sesame Stree Live

Last Friday (3/12), Caden and I went to see Sesame Street Live with our neighbors, Kim and Ella. I was a little worried that I wouldn't be able to keep hold of him, so I used the umbrella stroller to get in. It wasn't too full, so everything worked out. The seat kept popping up on him, but he didn't seem to mind. I did not take my camera because I figured it was just something else to worry about (yup, I'm a worrier), but luckily Kim had hers and was willing to share these pictures. Thanks Kim!
Before we left - showing off his Oscar shirt

This was our attempt at getting the kids to look at the camera at the same time. Caden is smiling...just at someone else. We all had a great time. Caden still talks about wanting to see Sesame Street Live...I have to keep reminding him that was just one day.

Toddler Time Part 4

Last Wednesday was the final Toddler Time for the winter season. The next one starts in April which we obviously won't be going to. The final craft was a paper plate duck. I think he was trying to do in the first picture what he did in the second. Again, he posed himself!

Caden's 2nd Birthday Pictures

Again, I'm not sure if I'm "allowed" to post these from JCPenney, but here goes!

(CLICK HERE for last year's pictures)

(pretty much posed himself in this one)

24 Month Dr. Visit

We had Caden's 24 month Dr. visit last evening. He was EXCELLENT! No more fears of the Dr. (I hope)!!! He didn't have shots, but he did have the finger prick again where they had to keep scraping to collect blood. He didn't even jump when they pricked him. I was just so impressed. I hope he keeps this up! We got the OK for him to try peanut butter - so he'll be having a PB&J for lunch today - I know he's excited! He's healthy and that's all that matters. Anyhow, his stats are:

Weight: 27 lbs. (we were actually thinking he weighed more)
Height: 35.4 in.

Caden's 2nd Birthday Party

We had Caden's 2nd Birthday party on Sunday here with just family again. I took a ton of pictures of course. It seemed like a good time was had by all. Thanks everyone for coming, and thank you for all the great gifts. The whole day Caden walked around saying, "Wow" to the decorations and gifts. I think I even heard, "Oh golly" a few times.

We "entertained" by putting Disney's Bolt on for the kids.
I think he was getting tired already.
Gift time - MegaBloks - Thanks Uncle Brooks, Amanda, and girls!
Thank you hugs.

Aunt Erin got him some crayons which he wanted to open as soon as he got them, and then he wanted to open them after each gift.
Aunt Erin got him a large coloring book too. This is a calendar that we can change each day from Mammy.
Another awesome cake by Aunt Peggy.

Chris, Cori, Matt,
Caden (still looking at/eating cake like in the picture with Jason and me), and Katie

"Pappy...are you?"
The Boettger side (the others left before the picture)
The Showers/Doebler side
getting tired
Pappy D drove all the way from TN to make it to Caden's party. He brought large boxes which Caden loves to climb on.
Helping with the picnic table.
Mammy bought him a really colorful comforter for his "big boy bed". He took a quick break from helping with the table to inspect his comforter.
"This blanket is supposed to be on the floor so I can lay on it!"
"OK, now where was I?"
The finished product.

Another gift from Pappy D - a child's bench or "couch" as Caden calls it (very tired at this point).

A close up of the back of the bench - jungle animals of course!

A little video to enjoy. Sorry it's so dark. It's a little hard to tell, but he's singing right along!

Happy 2nd Birthday, Caden!

Potato Sausage Casserole

Here's one Jason found on the internet that we enjoy:

1 lb. bulk sausage
1 can cream of mushroom soup
3/4 cup milk
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
3 cups sliced peeled raw potatoes
2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
chopped fresh parsley, optional

Brown sausage; drain and set aside. Combine soup, milk, onion, salt, and pepper. In a greased 2 quart casserole, layer half of the potatoes, half of the soup mixture, and half of the sausage. Repeat, ending with sausage. Cover and bake at 350 for 1 hour or until potatoes are tender. Sprinkle with cheese. Return to oven, uncovered, for 2 to 3 minutes or until cheese melts. Garnish with parsley if desired.
