On the 24th, we took a day trip to the Philly Zoo. We unfortunately weren't able to meet up with my sister-in-law this time. It really is a fun, nice zoo to visit, and very easy to get to. We got there around 11 and left around 3, so allow yourself at least 4 hours.
Holding hands on the way down.
Of course Abby has a big grin on her face while holding her brother's hand.
Caden and Abby (you can see her little finger pointing) both seemed to enjoy the naked mole rats running around. They are in cute in a twisted sort of way.
Abby was looking for some lions, but they weren't being very social.
Thanks Jay for looking! :)
Last year they had Lego animals everywhere. This year it was a Jim Henson puppet theme about extinct or almost extinct animals.
Taking a break for lunch.
After lunch, we discovered this really fun place called the Tree House. It's for zoo members only, but not sure how particular they are about it. I don't think they checked our membership either time we went...yes, we were there twice. :)
Abby met this cute little boy and they just kept smiling at each other.
It's very hard to tell, but if you look through that little hole in the root, you can kinda make out Caden. He was going down a little slide.
Caden checking out the bald eagles.
My favorites...I think that's Abigail in the middle.
A bit of a goofy picture of all 4 of us!
Abigail checking out the rhino.
This is a sloth bear. I had never heard of it before. The way it moved though, it looked fake, like it was mechanical.
I think this is part Michael Jackon's Thriller and part flamingo.
This is one of his new things, trying to stand or hop on one foot.
This nice lady was talking to him about different kinds of feathers.
Wondering what Abby's looking at?
Just this goofy kid:
What a pose!
Caden checking out the gorillas - somehow we walked right past them last year.
This was our second time back. Abigail was checking out this egg...
trying to figure out how to get in.
At the end, she was ready to kick off her shoes from all that walking she did :)
This is outside the zoo on the way back to the parking lot.
It didn't take long for them to crash!
