Tile

This week we had some tile work done in the kitchen and our bathroom. We originally wanted to do the bathroom for structural reasons, but I figured since he was here, why not do a backsplash too? Our "tile guy" as Caden called him was Alex from A&A Tile (498-4411 or 824-1212), and he did a great job! Here are some before, during, and after pictures. Now on to changing the paint color in the bathroom...it doesn't match the tile!

He had to tear out the decorative piece under the windowsill, and it was stuck on pretty good.

Eye Sore No More

Again...we are just so excited that I have to post about this. We have had these pallets of blocks sitting along side of our house for about 5 months. We finally found a reliable landscaper (Mark's Landscaping 570-655-0249) to build a much needed retaining wall between our house and our neighbor's.

They went from the side of the house to the front. The big green truck in the distance was actually between the wall and our garage at one point...not sure how they did that, but they did!
They provided hours of entertainment...

Proof that it was really needed...

The final product. There's actually 7 rows of block (it was up to my eyes), but they brought in a lot of topsoil. This is off of our deck.

This is from the front looking back.

Screen Door

We're excited...excited enough to blog about it. We just had a screen/storm door installed today. It's the kind that has a screen on just the top part. You can make it a full storm door or a half screen door. I love it!

Milk Toast

We are finally done with painting this summer. Good timing too since J's first day back to school is today. Caden and I went to my mom's this last weekend (we had a picnic to go to) while Jason helped move his brother, Brooks, into his new house. So, while we were gone, Jason finished up the painting. It was really nice coming home to a completely painted downstairs (and not having to do any part of it :). He did a great job.

This is the wall right inside the front door...we decided to go with the color of the kitchen just to add some color to the entryway.

Jason is resting...he had a long weekend!

This is the hallway that leads frm the entryway into the kitchen.

Long-Term Project

We have been working on our front slope since I believe May, and here's the outcome.
After planting a bunch of plants (I've lost count...I think over 50), we bought some...

and this is what Jason did with it (plus under the swing set)...

(this picutre was taken in the beginning of June, when we were in the middle of the project)

The plants looked bigger without the mulch :) They are doing well considering the soil they have to grow in. They are all supposed to come back next year and spread. We are keeping our fingers crossed.

A Summer Day

We now have an orange kitchen/computer room called "Summer Day." We worked on it Thursday and Friday of last week. I'm liking painting a little less as each project gets completed :)

Our Bedroom

Our third room is finally done. I did our bedroom on Sunday. I'm not too sure about the color yet; I'm thinking I would like something a little darker maybe. It's easy enough to change in a few years. Yes...that's a telescope that my mom got J for Christmas - it's really amazing all you can see with it!

The door to the left is from the hallway, then the cracked door is our 3/4 bath, and then the other one is our closet.

Arizona Anyone?

If I want to go to Arizona, I only have to walk a few steps into our 1/2 bath. The paint color is "Arizona Dust", but the color is like, "walking into a clay pot" - my husband. Two rooms down...only like 4-5 rooms + foyer/hallway to go! I still enjoy painting, but check in at the end of the summer, and I'll let you know how I feel then.

Lunar Eclipse

On June 29, Jason an I took on the adventure of painting Caden's room. We did fairly well with only two minor mishaps. I stepped off the stool right into the tray of paint (with socks on), and Jason tripped and caught himself by slapping a wet wall with his hand. We found that we are a pretty good painting team though...I like painting, and he doesn't mind trimming. The color is called Luncar Eclipse, incase you didn't get that from the title. It was gray on the sample, but it's blue on the wall, funny how that works!
